Drs. Tyler W. Ferris and Megan Hembree are orthodontic specialists in San Antonio, Texas. Together, they work as a team striving for one common goal – to provide their patients with the most advanced and comprehensive orthodontic care that will provide them with a smile that will last a lifetime.

Tyler W. Ferris, D.D.S., M.S.

dr1_20Aug2014.jpgDr. Ferris was born in San Antonio and raised in Brady, Texas. After earning his bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M University, he gained early acceptance into the number one ranked dental school in the country at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. There he received numerous awards and was valedictorian of his class. He then received his orthodontic specialty training at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas where he was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award for Excellence in Orthodontics. In May 2003, Dr. Ferris was awarded the Earl Shepard Award of Distinction for achieving the highest score in the nation on the American Board of Orthodontics Phase II Examination, which tests one’s knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of various orthodontic problems. He has lectured at the Gorman Institute annual meeting.

Dr. Ferris has been in practice since 2001. Dr. Ferris and his wife, Sharlynn, reside in Boerne with their daughters Madison and Emmy. His interests outside of orthodontics include time with family, church activities, exercising and being outdoors.

Megan Hembree, D.D.S., M.S.

dr2_20Aug2014.jpgDr. Megan Hembree, a native of the West Texas town of Muleshoe and began her career in orthodontics working as a chairside assistant throughout college for Dr. Christopher Anderson in Lubbock. Dr. Hembree graduated first in her class at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School, before completing her Orthodontic residency at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. She has been in private practice in San Antonio since September 2007.

Dr. Hembree was the recipient of numerous awards during her educational experience at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, including:

  • The Award for Excellence in Clinical Dentistry (2005)
  • The William S. Kramer Award of Excellence (2005)
  • The M. Franklin Dolwick Research Award (2004)

Dr. Hembree also served on numerous committees and served as a class officer throughout dental school. During her orthodontic training she received her Master’s degree conducting research with temporary anchorage devices used in orthodontics which was published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in March 2009.

With an impressive list of educational achievements, Dr. Hembree continues to approach the study and practice of orthodontics with relentless enthusiasm. She truly enjoys what she does!

She met and married her husband, Ben Hembree, a San Antonio native, as a volunteer leader for Young Life while she was in dental school. Together they enjoy spending time with their three children Chance, Hallie and Clayton and three dogs Boomer, Bailey, and Sealy. Outside the office, Dr. Hembree enjoys activities at her church as well as snow skiing, working out, and spending time with her family.
